Working breakfast with Minister Abdullah

On Thursday, May 20, at the Hotel Villamagna in Madrid, the Spain-India Council Foundation held a working breakfast focused on Renewable Energy that was attended by the Government Minister of the Republic of India, Farooq Abdullah, the Minister of Renewable Energy; High Officials from his Department; the Indian Ambassador to Spain, Sujata Mehta; the President of the Foundation, Antonio Escámez; the Secretary General of Foreign Trade of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Alfredo Bonet, Director General of International Economic Relations and Energy Affairs from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and Rafael Conde de Saro, along with other representatives of the Spain-India Council Foundation.

Minister Abdullah, who is also a medical doctor, comes from a line of important Indian politicians. He has been the Prime Minister of Kashmir twice and has been to Spain twice. In his speech he not only spoke about collaboration between the two countries in terms of the energy sector, but also with regard to developing relations in many other aspects.

About eighty Spanish businessmen attended the breakfast, including many Foundation Trustees, as well as about ten Indian companies from the energy sector. They were able to ask the Minister and his team about different aspects of relations between the renewable energy sectors of the two countries, as well as making contact with the representatives of the Indian companies in attendance.

The meeting's success led to the planning similar meetings that the Foundation had included in its Plan of Action for 2010 to discuss additional issues.
